I like this little device. Works great and pretty fast for the specs thanks to Linux. This set is perfect for beginners. Pros: Fast, easy, ready to use. Cons: The SD card needs to be 16GB. NOOBS is long outdated. SD card read/write sucks. When reading in my stress test under turbo overclocking and overvoltage at 1 GHz, the average reading speed was 13.5 MB/s. The average write speed was 11 MB/s, but it peaked at 13.8 on one occasion. Reads were 8.1GB 10 times and writes were 537MB 10 times. If you're new to Linux, start with a book. The terminal is the only way to learn how to program, how to actually use a computer, or anything else. Raspbian OS (recommended initial version) is based on Debian Wheezy. It sucks for a desktop environment, but better than most. I got the wireless keyboard and mouse from Walmart, a Microsoft brand, I needed the latest OS update for the keyboard to work. After the update I had to manually adjust the monitor resolution. Set the maximum recommended overclock setting and install VIM. ------- Updated 03/03/2016 -------------- ---------- It's too late for a review now, but this product did almost 2 of the year on the shelf. Weeks after purchase I kept getting boot corruption and had to constantly reformat the cheap SD card. After about 15 or so I removed it thinking I was doing something wrong. DO NOT buy this item from these people. The board is a waste and I wish I had remembered to complain a long time ago and get a refund. I know that SD card corruption is common in devices with bad motherboards or bad cheap SD cards. In any case, it cost more than 60 dollars. ------------------ End of update ---------------- --
