I bought this for my indoor wet box for my baby turtles - the ambient temperature should be between 80 and 90 degrees. I tested it on my kitchen table, set it to 90 degrees and left it alone for an hour and a half. It NEVER reached 90 degrees - even when the thermometer was only an inch from the mat. So I put the thermometer ON the mat and that's when the temperature started to rise - to 87 degrees, but it couldn't get to a full 90. So, somewhat encouraged (since moisture is a conductor of heat), I put the mat in a shelter under some kind of damp sub-floor - again sat for an hour and a half - and NOTHING! It can only heat a 1/8" substrate, which doesn't work for me, and of course it never got to 95 degrees, which is what I adjusted. I know sometimes people pay for good reviews, and I've always had that Feeling like I could see through them but I feel like I was seriously scammed with this purchase.
