I bought these to hang a wooden thermometer (moose shape) on a window pane - the old cups needed replacing. The problem is that the (original) suction cup was attached with a screw that (if you can believe it) went through the middle of the suction cup. recipe for failure. Air seeps past the screw, carrying the dust with it, and eventually it no longer sticks. I was looking for something that would fit over the head of the screw and leave the side of the cup intact. Spring. It's not like this. These are really great cups. I used a pair with a hook and they held. Well they still hold up and keep something going for weeks with no sign of air leaks (wash the window thoroughly before applying). So. If you use a hook over a handle on a mug, you're going to love these things. I can really recommend her for that. If you have a moose trying to tell you how hot/cold it is. not as much.
