I bought this to use on my 25 gallon tanks, both have sand instead of gravel. I did a 20% water change with it for the first time today. The pump/lamp is great. I don't have to suck at the other end of the siphon to start the flow! The nozzle attached to the hose is wider and looks like a shower head with lots of holes to suck up dirt and water from the tank. It still soaked up some of my sand, but I think it controlled the amount to some extent. The water flow was a bit fast for my 5 gallons. I still haven't figured out how to slow it down so I can pump all the poop and uneaten food onto the floor. I will try this on my 24 gallon salt water tank. All in all this is a great product.
