Press on, or squeeze the pump bulb 5 to 7 times and the water will start to flow out of the nozzle. See the description below for more details. โœ” NO HASSLE STORAGE --- The flexible siphon pump doesnโ€™t allow small gravel and debris from going into the hose. Not only that, after it has done the deed, it wonโ€™t give you a hard time thinking where you would store it, as it can be placed practically anywhere! With its strategic portable design, you can keep it in any place you want where you can easily access it the next time you need it.

About 4-5 strokes and the hose started sucking and pulled dirt from the bottom of the tank. The siphon is more than enough to get things out of the ground but leave behind heavy objects like gravel/rocks (which is what you want). Worked very well with a 2.5 gallon bucket. (I don't recommend a 5 gallon bucket unless you're half full or strong enough to pour it out.) Would recommend this pump. Definitely good for the price. I also bought a plastic glass scraper with a handle.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Some errors

I've only used this once so far but it worked great. I used to use a siphon that had to be moved up and down to drain the water, it was awful. It's the one where you just tap the lightbulb a few times and it snaps! A few weeks ago I received a question about this product about the siphon not working but I couldn't answer because mine was working fine. til today. So, FYI, when the siphon stops sucking, disconnect the small hose at the end of the squeeze pump. There is a blue plastic "flap" thatโ€ฆ

The pump/bulb function is great!

I bought this to use on my 25 gallon tanks, both have sand instead of gravel. I did a 20% water change with it for the first time today. The pump/lamp is great. I don't have to suck at the other end of the siphon to start the flow! The nozzle attached to the hose is wider and looks like a shower head with lots of holes to suck up dirt and water from the tank. It still soaked up some of my sand, but I think it controlled the amount to some extent. The water flow was a bit fast for my 5 gallonsโ€ฆ

Small pieces of gravel suck but other than that it works great

Before I bought it I used a small glass and bucket to change the water in my aquariums. It wasn't unmanageable, but it certainly took a while to bail out 3 gallons of water and I didn't clean the gravel at all. This has reduced the water change time to less than 10 minutes and cleaned gravel much better. It has a simple filter ("bait net") at the top to keep gravel, fish, plants etc from being sucked in, but some small bits of gravel will still get through. While this isn't a huge problem; Theโ€ฆ

Great for water changes in my BiOrb aquarium

I recently bought a small BiOrb aquarium for my cockatiel and while it's not that big it holds about 4 gallons - way more than I can fit myself. Sink for changing the water. I needed a way to pump out some of the water for a partial replacement without making a big mess and I first looked at a similar manual pump hose offered by BiOrb. I don't normally buy off the shelf consumables for this tank but this one seemed like a no brainer and it certainly works great. It took me a minute or two toโ€ฆ

Works very well. on Fish & Aquatic Pets

I have a fairly small aquarium (advertised as 3.5 gallons, it isn't. I can only fill it with just over 2.5 gallons of water). It's a bit big and I never used a siphon before it took me a few tries to get the hang of it, mainly because I used the wrong end in the water to begin with. The thin end is the outlet and the end furthest from the blue light goes into your tank, just FYI. But once I read the instructions it worked really well. The siphon is designed more like a sieve - I could see sandโ€ฆ

A simple but great water purifier and dehumidifier! Continue reading.

My 12 year old son wanted an aquarium so we bought him a 2.5 gallon faucet tank. he bought this hose for cleaning gravel and uses it for his weekly water changes. WHAT I LIKE: [+} She is simple but effective in what she does. Simply squeeze the bulb to drain the water.[+] Extra long tube, flexible so it's comfortable to hold and the end hard like a stick for easy grip.[+] The end nozzle is like a net to To prevent gravel or other objects such as a fish or a plant from being accidentally suckedโ€ฆ
