SKIP IT!: Air vents

I used to have one of those water filled, lint catching internal air vents and it worked great. Can't remember the brand but it worked great. Unfortunately, this is not the case in this case. It's very deformed, so even a proper fit of the vented lid on the water-filled part was almost impossible. I don't know how long it has been or how it has been stored, but the cheap plastic is so brittle that when you try to clamp the top, the part that the top latch fits on snaps off the base and becomes deformed The top doesn't even sit flat on the base. . I had to tape the top off which is tricky as the top is where the vents are and the base is filled with water. This is a real problem considering I had to move the washing machine to attach it so I could squeeze behind the dryer to install it. To make matters worse, the cheap, flimsy mylar duct that comes with the kit is only 3 feet from where it connects to the dryer vent, meaning it has to be on the floor. But wait, it gets worse! The description says it comes with a "metal adapter and two clips". Well I'm pretty sure Mylar isn't metallic apart from a thin reflective coating. And too short, brittle plastic ties that don't even "stick" are not "clamps" in my opinion. I had to use more tape to secure the end of the hose to the dryer. So that I can put this thing in a more accessible place, so as not to damage the wall of my laundry, so as not to move the washing machine every time I do a load, and so as not to be an acrobat emptying, cleaning and and around this To refill the damn thing, I ordered a longer, stronger air hose and two real metal hose clamps that have been used successfully for decades to connect and secure dryer air hoses around the world. It's either way dealing with wall damage and a rusty dryer. I still have to deal with removing and reapplying the tape every time I drain the lint and refill with fresh water because nasty things can grow in cloudy water that I really don't want to spread around the house. SKIP THIS!
