I use them for other purposes - instead of connecting two wires I use them to connect a wire neatly to a pin on a circuit board in my solder stereo. My first 3 attempts went very well and then I had problems with the 4th - the solder did not stick to the pin. I unplugged the wire, tinned the contact with regular electro solder, then tried a new connector and it worked great. (I cut about 1/4 of the solder off one side of the connector to allow the pin to fit in the soldering area.) Now I know I need to tin each pin before adding the connector and wire. So far these things have been amazing. - Just ordered different sizes. I use a narrow tip heat gun at 300 degrees Fahrenheit, but I might try 320 to make it easier and faster. Conventional Soldering I use an iron at 405 degrees Fahrenheit so regular solder never melts when I use a heat gun. This is great because it makes soldering to the pin safer. The red connectors barely fit my 18 gauge wire, and if the insulation is warped at all it can be difficult to get the connector onto the wire. No problem with 20 gauge wire. For my purpose, however, I like the tight fit as it holds the wire in place while I heat the internal solder.
