A must have upgrade for your wheeled water heater.

This is a must-have upgrade for anyone who owns a camper or RV with a propane water heater. I spend a lot of time in my 38ft RV during the spring, summer, and fall, but have always hesitated to turn on the water heater because it uses up my propane. It doesn't bother me anymore! Now I can use as much hot water as I want. I too can always keep a tank of hot water handy! I don't have to schedule an hour or more to get hot water to wash dishes or shower. It is great! With my 200 Ah solar panel I can easily heat up a hot water tank. At 450 watts, it draws just under 4 amps per hour while running, and it might take a couple of hours to heat up (I'm exaggerating the numbers just in case). That's only 8 amps from a 200Ah battery, which is constantly being refreshed by solar panels anyway. So even without propane and in the middle of nowhere I can have constant (all day) hot water if I want. Likewise! If you want to heat water faster, you can use this electric element and propane gas at the same time. I think there is something to consider for those who like longer showers. To install it you need a few basic tools and some common sense. This last tool can be the hardest for some people. In any case, the kit has very clear instructions, so you should be fine if you take your time and follow them. I installed my kit into an old Atwood water heater. That works great! You can set the water temp gauge to 150, but I set mine to 125. I'm definitely getting boiling hot water out of my RV faucet. The kit also includes adapter bushings that make up the magnesium buffers (the things that hard water corrodes, not the inside of your water tank). You can protect both electric hot water and water heaters with these magnesium pieces BUT they are much smaller than the large sticks you typically use and will last for multiple seasons. The ones attached to adapter sockets will probably only last a season each (I hope), so stock up on a few. You can find them here at Revain or on Ebay for around $14 each. I found a store in Texas that sells them for $9 each with free shipping, so I bought a few there. Finally, I would like to mention that if you install one of these and nothing happens, you should check your lugs. Everything in the kit is high quality, but spade terminals can be mated so that there is no connection. it happened to me I thought I had a bad block. I was about to disassemble it to return when I noticed a problem with the spade connector. Connected correctly and everything is fine. So get this kit if you have a water heater that can use it. You will be very glad you did.
