I took off a star for ease of installation, but that's only for people who accidentally lost their instructions after the product arrived (me). I've worn and discarded many, many toilet crackers over the years, but this one was the new mojo. The installation basics were simple. Simply put two eyelets on the hooks and adjust the length of the chain, done. Not correct! My old damper didn't have the little yellow float. What I didn't know is that the float controls how long the tank stays open for flushing. Then the experiments began. After putting on my goggles and drinking about twenty gallons of water, I saw small plastic clips above and below the float. After another twenty gallons of water in the experiments, I later found that the higher the float is set on the chain, the faster it closes. The deeper the float was, the longer it stayed open for rinsing. I just had to find out. After setting it up correctly, everything worked perfectly. Moral of the story: don't lose your instructions or prematurely throw away this excellent product without understanding how it works!
