Intermittent Problem with Delphi AF10130 MAF Sensor

I replaced one on my car as a preventive measure due to age and mileage. The old one didn't disappoint. After installing this new Delphi mass airflow sensor, I had a major intermittent problem. For no reason I would lose all gas control. The car can drive 50 miles normally and then in the middle of an intersection the car won't go past idle. Even with a good quality scanner, there were no codes. I spent $500 on diagnostics and a week on the car and it all ended up pointing to the MAF sensor. I removed the new Delphi box and reinstalled the original one on my 2004 Grand Marquis and the problem was solved. Boxed the Delphi unit and sent it back for credit.
