Review on 8-Piece Set of Amazon Basics Oscillating Multi-Tool Quick Release Saw Blades by Mitchell Norman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

good basic knife set

I have an old swinging multi tool from Harbor Freight. I was afraid they wouldn't fit my HF but they fit perfectly. I like the open side design so I don't have to completely remove the screw holding the blade to change blades. Simply loosen the screw and insert the blade from the side. The kit contains five different blade types, including 3 of each type.1. metal/wood/plastic. Blade 1 3/4 inch. About 20 teeth per inch (somewhere between fine and medium). This cut through the nail well but didn't leave a large dent in the screw. The blades are all made of the same "thick alloy steel" and appear to be quite strong. However, the teeth were visibly worn after trimming a 2-inch nail. I think serious cutting of carbide parts would probably require paying more for a blade with a higher end to withstand cutting multiple metal parts. No problem for wood or plastic. 2. Wood/Plastic. Blade 1 3/8", about 18 teeth per inch. Medium thinness. 3. Wood. Blade 1 3/8". About 13 teeth per inch. 4. wood. Blade 2 5/8" about 18 teeth per inch I used them to cut through a 2x2 piece Blade was not noticeably dull 5. Wood Crescent About 18 teeth per inch Overall I like this set 5 types of blades are good for most Applications Blades 1-3 can be used for plunge cuts Blades are economical but still a huge improvement over my current set of cheap mostly worn out blades which I'm about to throw away Only caveat: if you need blades for cutting hard metal (eg. (e.g. nails) you may get frustrated, they probably work well on softer metals like aluminium.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Hard to say
