I am updating this review October 2014. I have owned 2 of these ACDelco D1808A transmitters and based on their combined experience I am increasing the rating to 4/5. Compared to a mechanical gauge, I found this gauge to be noticeably more accurate than the BWD counterpart. My experience of reliability has been mixed - one died as quickly as the BWD, the other lasted longer and still works. I first replaced my factory sensor with an ACDelco D1808A (this model). Everything worked fine but only lasted 8 months and about 5,000 miles. At the time of the breakdown I was idling at a brake light at normal peak operating temperature. I was looking at the oil pressure gauge when the needle suddenly hit full, indicating an open circuit. On this his death - up to this point he has done a good job. I replaced it with a BWD branded sensor with a lifetime warranty. I went through 3 of these guaranteed stations. They all died around the same time as Delko. But thanks to the warranty, I was able to replace them for free. So why didn't I just use the free BWD? Because even if they "worked," BWD never worked properly. They set off false low-pressure alarms. The mechanical gauge showed they were fine at the top of the scale, but when the oil pressure dropped to 20-25 psi, the BWD gauges read 10 psi or less. This caused the false "low pressure" warning light to come on, and it was this light that made these transmitters unacceptable to me. The BWDs also became "jerky" with age, while the Delcos were more stable (to the point of death). There was not much difference in how long they all served before dying (6-9 months). So I went back to the ACDelco D1808A - not because I thought it would last longer, but because it worked better. As mentioned above, my first experience with the D1808A was unsuccessful at 8 months and 5000 miles. I'm now on my second Delco D1808A and it's now 1 year + 5 months and 7,000 miles. It's still working fine so far. It doesn't sound very impressive, but it's significantly longer than the original D1808A or any of the BWDs. What I like about the Delco is that its hot idle accuracy is dash tolerant. I haven't had any accuracy issues with any of my D1808A. None of them had problems with false alarms. Just an additional note, if you're concerned about your oil pressure, measure it with a mechanical pressure gauge before you panic. Electrical gauges, even those made by Delco, should never be assumed to be accurate, even when new. They serve to direct attention, but should not be used for a reliable diagnosis.
