Review on Step2 578400 MailMaster Express Plastic by Aries Greene

This mailbox is made of high quality plastic. a helical mailbox that attaches to the top of the rack. It also includes two doors (be sure to install the doors before tightening all the screws as you will need to pull slightly on the sides to get the door pins into their holes), 3 screws that go through the top plastic brace into yours 4x4 go. and 4 long screws going through the mailbox body to the bottom of the mailbox (this is part of the top post). None of the holes are pre-drilled and it takes some effort to get the bolts/screws in. You will definitely need a drill and you can pre-drill the holes, although I just used the bolts and screws provided to make my own holes. For this reason I only give 3 stars for the easy assembly. The 4x4 first fits snugly through the bottom of the rack where it connects to the top. However, upon installation I found that once the bollard was in place, the plastic stretched slightly to fit perfectly. The red flag is already installed on the side of the mailbox. The mailbox is very deep, front to back. I made some changes to the setup to make it more durable. I dug the bottom of the plastic post 5 inches into the ground and filled the bottom of the plastic post with sand/soil (I live in Florida where we have sand) to give it more stability (I'm sure it would be stable without it was, but I wanted to make it even more stable). I also installed 2 extra screws in the front (the mailbox comes with 3 screws going in the back) because I felt it moved too much between the upright sections using only the screws in the back. With these upgrades, she is very durable! Another reviewer also stated that the door rubs on the sides. This applies if it is not installed. Once installed, they open and close normally. I'm wondering if they wrote this review before installing it. Also, the magnetic door locks grip well and I'm not worried about accidentally opening doors. This plastic mailbox has replaced the metal mailbox. I have two Step2 Minders mailboxes (door alarms) which I bought many years ago. Mailbox Minder performs better on the platform. stic (less radio blocking). Since this new mailbox has 2 doors, I install a Mailbox Minder on each door for security. This Step2 mailbox is made in the USA in Ohio.
