I mainly paint miniature figures with light acrylic paints. Before I got this, I used a plain coffee mug to clean my brushes. With that 2-3 brush strokes on the spool and the paint pulls out of my brushes giving a clean brush. Any sediment settles to the bottom below the serpentine. Cleaning is a little tricky as the serpentine is almost the same diameter as the opening of the jar, so it takes some sort of artifice to get it in the right position and sort of unscrew it from the container.
