Review on Pfister S10 430Y Avalon 3 Handle Shower by Gregory Sirgio

The label on the box indicates a ceramic disc valve, actually contains valves with a rubber seal

Overall I am very happy with the product. It was easy to install and looks great. The only problem was that the stems that came with them were old rubber grommets, not ceramic as described on the box they came in. It wasn't a big problem because the ceramic valves I had didn't leak. The reversing stem valve I had was the same seal as the one I received, although the new one had a 1/4 turn instead of the 1/2 turn. replaced. It was actually better for this application as it was easier to assemble than a clutter-free setup in terms of hot and cold grip spacing (the existing H and C were 1/2 turn). I would advise anyone buying this specifically for a leaking valve issue to first check if their existing stems are ceramic or rubber valves as they are not interchangeable. The rough body in the wall they screw into will determine which valve is used. A ceramic seal is unlikely to leak because by design it has a long life without wear. If you have ceramic valves, you end up with two rubber valves that you will never need. If you have ceramic valves and you are leaking them, this kit may not have everything you need to get the job done. Replace the rubber valve seats (included). You'll also need a 5/16" square drive (Pfister support told me it's included, not the stems. 3 stem extensions 3 sets of trim flanges and nylon bushings to seal the hot and cold water valves (presumably reverse rotation, as one is marked 11 the other 15) 3 valve seats for valves with rubber seals shower lever and end flange Finally After updating the nickel finish I also bought a matching nickel spout and drain cap.
