Review on πŸ’‘ TORCHSTAR 12-Pack Essential Series 10: Affordable and Versatile Lighting Solution by Jacob Diego

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great light. Bright. nominal insulation. Easy installation.

I don't review many things I buy but I was so pleased with these lights that I felt the need. I've installed about 30 of these throughout the house (living room, bedroom, office, garage, kitchen, hallway) and they are amazing. They represent a massive upgrade from existing lights I've had, especially considering the cost and installation time. They are very bright so make sure you set a dimmer to get the light you want (I used a Lutron DVWCL-153PH-WH, white). For example, I installed 8 in my living room with ceilings that are 8 feet tall and measure 14 feet by 18 feet. I placed each bulb about 4.5 feet apart and dimmed them to about 75% for everyday use. In my opinion 3000k is the only color suitable for indoor use, 2700k is too yellow and 4000k+ is too white (best for a garage). Whatever suits your taste, just make sure you buy the same color throughout your home for a clean, consistent look. The specs say you only need a 6.02 inch ceiling opening. When I measured one of the backs before making my first cut, it looked more like 6.25 inches. I cut all my holes to 6.25" and these fasteners still have a tight fit with no gaps. I like that they are designed for contact with the insulation. I had several conventional jars in the kitchen that required a thermal barrier, which I always encountered when moving about the attic, forcing me to fish out blown insulation that inevitably found its way into contact with light fixtures. I would buy them again and would recommend them to anyone looking for quality light that is inexpensive and easy to install. I will upload pictures in the next few days.
