Good light, 2 major design flaws

The light is very bright and easy to install. 2 stars deducted due to 2 serious design flaws. The metal junction box is very very small, half of it is the controller, the other half is the wires, when daisy chaining to the next light it's very difficult to pinch all the wires/nuts without them coming loose, had to it being a screw cap that won't snap open, I had to seal it with duct tape. My second issue is that the junction box gets very hot after the lights have been on for a while (more than

Bad customer service. good lights

Firstly, the lights that came out and didn't break are great! Very easy to use and install. BUT of the 2 boxes I ordered, 11 came with a broken connector under the spring which caused the plastic to warp preventing the cable from fitting into the junction boxes. I had to send the whole box back and exchange it. I had already done the wiring for the junction boxes and when I tried to work with Torchstar customer service (Nicole Salinas) I was fired, didn't offer any solutions and generally…

Why have I waited so long!

Installed 9 of these lights in my house. Once you've drilled the (dusty) hole, the hardest part is over. I bought a dimmer, which I can also recommend. I bought warm lamps and couldn't be happier. I have plasterboard ceilings and 1/2" drywall on top, 2 1/2" overall thickness. I bought a Milwaukee 6" hole saw. The problem is that none of the 6 1/4" hole saws would last long. So if you are using a 6 inch saw you will need to enlarge the hole to fit. If you have plastered ceilings, I guarantee…

Pretty recessed lights

Summary: The lights are easy to install, bright, dimmable and good looking. Costs money. Now I want to put more in the house. It took me about 10 minutes to install each lamp. I originally installed the lamp during build, but they wouldn't let me insulate the space above as much as I wanted after doing a little searching at Lowe's and online for comparable models (Halo). I found this at Revain. I accidentally bought a 4" thinking I wanted a 6" ceiling for my cathedral. I left the 4" because I…

Great value, easy makeup in 20 minutes!

My wife and I wanted to upgrade our family room by replacing 4 bronze lamps with LEDs. Wow what a difference! No need to remove the cans, just connect the wires and insert the LED lights and you're done. We ordered 12 packs to install the remaining 8 in our kitchen. This required more effort as holes had to be drilled in the drywall and the BX wire routed. In the end, we found that replacing the existing lights (in the center of the kitchen and above the kitchen table) with the same LED blocks…

Almost Great, But Not Equal Halo

Let me start this review by saying Torchstar makes a quality product, is easy to install (although I wish they had a fast connection) and is an overall cheap alternative. to well-known brands. Unfortunately, I started my house with Halo recessed lights (choice of colors) and have been very happy with them. I wanted to love Torchstar even more than Halo because they would be a lot more economical; However, they are not compatible with other brands. I have bought many Torchstar lights to fit my…

Great light. Bright. nominal insulation. Easy installation.

I don't review many things I buy but I was so pleased with these lights that I felt the need. I've installed about 30 of these throughout the house (living room, bedroom, office, garage, kitchen, hallway) and they are amazing. They represent a massive upgrade from existing lights I've had, especially considering the cost and installation time. They are very bright so make sure you set a dimmer to get the light you want (I used a Lutron DVWCL-153PH-WH, white). For example, I installed 8 in my…

Great lights. 5000k is too blue, 4000k is good for stage.

I originally thought I would get 5000k because I like white stuff but I was wrong. 5000k was too blue. After receiving 4000,000 I was very happy. Incandescent lamp for comparison. When I want to be comfortable I turn off the recessed lights, but when I want to work the recessed lights are perfect. First, they are really easy to install. It is entirely possible to wire them together, if the romex goes in one plug the romex comes out of the other plug and connects to the light with the wire nuts…
