I installed a Leviton 14-50 outlet first. These sockets are cheap and not designed to run 8kW through them for hours. In my car I started throwing an error saying the outlet is heated. I got Tesla to replace the charger and adapter but the error persisted. I emailed my electrician and he insisted it was not an outlet. But of course I researched and got this hubbell jack, I installed it myself. The only difficult part was plugging the wires and socket into the socket, I slowly bent the wires and plugged them in. I started charging and left it there for several hours and not once had there been a fault or issue with the heater in the outlet. I even unplugged it and the contacts weren't warm. So that tells me the current is flowing properly and I'm not wasting energy as heat. DON'T BUY A CHEAP 14-50 SOCKET FOR YOUR EV. Spend $60-90 on a premium outlet.
