Review on Tekonsha 90195 Electronic Brake Control by Ricky Brooks

This brake controller was purchased to replace a still working Tekonsha Voyager unit. The main reason I wanted to replace the Voyager is that the 5 wheel RV we were planning to buy and ended up buying came with electro-hydraulic disc brakes on all 4 wheels. While some websites list the Voyager as "compatible" with disc brake systems, there is no such statement on the Tekonsha website. I chose the P3 after doing more research and finding NUMEROUS users commenting on how well it works on a variety of truck and trailer braking systems. It also has the ability to save your preferred settings for up to 3 different trailers and has 3 different "boost" levels which cut trailer braking a little earlier than tractor brakes, giving you control in most braking situations keep about trucks and trailers. . This is a VERY efficient trailer brake control. I used it with our Ram 97 truck with Cummins engine and 5 speed manual transmission to tow our 'new' DRV Mobile Suites RV home from Florida after driving 4 days and covering 1300 miles . + Miles. In one particular situation I was SO glad I had a P3 brake controller when on a busy stretch of freeway through town following a semi truck and trailer I couldn't see the light ahead turning red. The trailer braked MUCH quicker than I expected, which required me to apply the brakes quickly and hard to prevent us from touching. The Tekonsha P3 brake controller applied the RV's brakes so hard that combined with our truck's brakes, we were able to quickly bring the entire truck and RV to a quick controller stop with room to spare. Needless to say, I was very impressed with its performance and how well it handled the campervan's braking system in all situations, which instilled a level of confidence that I really appreciate. The bottom line is that I would highly recommend this brake controller to anyone who is looking, or could be looking, for a really well designed product. Given the level of performance as well as the additional features it offers, I believe this should be one of the best trailer brake controllers out there.
