Nice Feature: Ceiling Fans and Accessories

This fan has greatly improved the look of my home office. It is clearly intended for the DIY enthusiast or the couple as the installation is very simple. I'll cover some of the highlights. Detailed instructions are included with the fan. I've included a summary to show how easy it was, but please use the instructions to make sure you get it right the first time. Please refer to the photos. The photo showing the wires hanging from the ceiling is the fixture needed to install the fan. This is the standard in most homes and offices. Removing the old bracket should reveal what looks like this upside down metal cup with wires hanging from it. The inverted cup has several standard threaded holes that the fan mount attaches to with the included mounting screws. Attach the bracket. Insert the remote control receiver into the inverted shell. Then assemble and install the ceiling skin, connecting pipe and fan casing. They pivot/snap into the previously attached bracket. Insert the five fan blades and secure using the included fasteners and brackets. Attach the lamp diffuser and finally the decorative shield. The total time from removing the old lamp to installing the remote control battery and verifying that it was working was less than 45 minutes. I'm excited about this fan, but I'll mention some aspects of it that may concern others. First, the light is an LED panel, which is fairly bright and well-balanced at around 5000K. If it blew you'd probably need a new fan as I doubt you'll be able to find a spare in a few years, even if you can disassemble the fan to replace it. The same applies to the remote control. If you lose it or find it broken, you're stuck with the wall switch to turn the fan on and off based on its last setting. Finally, the reversing switch is on top of the fan above the blades. If you're not a professional basketball player, that means climbing an "A" stepladder or ladder to change them. I would have liked a reversing switch on the remote control. All in all, despite some quibbles, this fan looks amazing, is beautifully finished, easy to install and runs quietly. I see it as a valuable addition to my home office.
