Review on ๐Ÿ’ฟ Portable 6X Blu-ray Burner External Drive Bundle with 100GB M-DISC BDXL and USB Cable - Pioneer BDR-XD07S by Joshua Talbot

So slow. Does not work with some Macbook adapters. Requires external power supply.

Tried a brand new Macbook Air M1 with brand new adapters. The initial connection was USB via Apple Multiport Adapter (USB, Power, HDMI). The drive turned on and sometimes recognized the disc sufficiently to get information about the header type. Failed to load blank CD or play DVD or commercial audio CD. I'm sure Macbook Airs have a reputation for low power output for HDMI, so I figured maybe USB wasn't efficient enough either. I replaced the multiport adapter with a direct USB to USB-C adapter and the drive worked but was incredibly slow. The one-hour CD took AT LEAST 1/2 hour to record. Come on, 20 years ago I burned a 1 hour CD in less than 5 minutes. No excuses. Since more power can improve things, I tried running it on a MacBook Pro, which typically has no issues with power delivery or CD burning. It was faster but still took 10-15 minutes to burn a 40 minute disc. On the other hand, I connected another CD burner to my new Macbook Air and it burned the same CD in less than 6 minutes. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ODDE33U/ So if you don't care about BluRay support, use a different drive. I can still order a power supply and see if this drive can be salvaged, but I'll probably end up returning it.
