Review on πŸ’‘ Efficient Westinghouse Lighting 3 Speed Fan Switch with Antique Brass Pull Chain by Alvaro Delic

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Low is pretty anemic for my fan

There's nothing particularly wrong with this switch, it really is a 3-speed fan switch BUT as another reviewer pointed out, it's not a direct replacement for the Zing Ear ZE-268S6 (which is what I was actually looking for). My fan is a Hunter and has a dual capacitor inside, both 5uF. When I connect this thing and match the colors of the wires to my original, I get HI, LOW, LOW. And if you look closely at the wiring and think about how the switch works, pull it once to connect port 1 to L, connect port 2 to L twice, etc. Port 1 has a gray wire from the fan direction switch, which I do guess is essentially no capacitance for the motor, and then pulling the switch to get to pin 2 connected the 5uF cap to the L wire and pulling again also connected the 5uF cap to the motor. The low level is pretty anemic for my fan, my most used setting has always been medium so to get the medium level back I connected BOTH capacitor cables to port 2, I just unplugged the cable from port 3 and plugged it into port 2 plugged in. With the wire I had, I was already there. I now have Hi and Med as fan speeds. If your fan capacitors have different values, e.g. 10 and 5, I assume this switch will work for you.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
