This hose worked very well in a very cold winter. Pros: Does not freeze with proper installation and insulation. This is the original shape. When straightening the hose, the heating tape bulges. It bothered me at first, but it didn't seem to affect the hose's function. The hose draws constant current while it's plugged in, meaning it's wasting power when the temperature rises above freezing. Surprisingly, the hose doesn't have a built-in thermostatic switch that would only turn on the hose below 35F. To solve this problem I bought a cheap "Thermocube" from a hardware store. Foam or rubber insulation or it will *freeze*. I wrapped the entire length of the hose in 3/4" rubber insulation and tape. It didn't take long, but I wish the hose was already insulated. The pros definitely outweigh the cons for us who live in cold climates.
