When open this product looks like a well made leash. It wasn't until I started surfing that I realized it was a cheap fake. Two things: The nylon cord stretches slightly. I'm not sure what the material is, but you can literally feel it stretch like toffee when you test it with your hands. It's no good if it's 8 feet long! Second, and what challenges the cord's cheapness, is that the velcro is flimsy and comes off easily. I felt him let go after being hit by a three foot wave. No hard tugging required, Velcro has about the same holding power as one of those cheap fridge magnets. I've learned another lesson. Not all hook and loop fasteners have the same adhesive strength. To be honest I have no idea how this passed a test. In addition, the return time was limited. About two weeks or so. It's gone so now I'm stuck with an imaginary leash. I suppose I can attach it to an ironing board and pretend to surf. Lesson learned. If it's cheap to buy, it's cheap to make! It really is a bitch.
