The main disadvantage of these socks is the protection from wind and rain. The toes and bottom of the foot are exposed. I get cold toes when riding in colder temperatures and I was looking for similar socks that would protect my toes from wind or moisture when riding in 40-60F weather, using my well ventilated summer shoes instead of bulky winter cycling boots. I'm currently using the Castelli Duo socks which are similar in that the windproof fabric covers the toes but not the bottom which works pretty well, but they don't have a fleece lining like these Sugois. I also have a pair of Gore Universal cycling socks which are 100% Gore-Tex, they work great too but don't have inner fleece so like Castelli I have to wear a thin inner sock which isn't as big. act.
