Feel like a woodworker!

I'm just a handyman with no woodworking experience - I can cut/saw wood, insert nails/screws and apply glue and do some basic stuff like raised beds with clamps. All I've done so far has been to attach wooden boards vertically or horizontally with screws or nails. In some cases I tried nailing/driving nails at an angle (is that a word?) and it looked very ugly. Then I found such a pocket hole attachment. Wow. This is life saving! I'm talking about adding shelving to existing columns with no free space, retrofitting attic stair treads (adding wider treads to existing ones), making frames with no base, etc. Once you've measured the depth and secured with a locking ring, then you can drill holes make (of course you need to set the desired hole width before making holes). You need to apply enough lube to avoid unwanted grinding of the inside of the hole (I used a very old WD40 and had no complaints). Due to the length of the included #2 6" square drill bit, I had trouble turning the screws (needs more practice). You will definitely need a longer #2 square cutter, but 6 inches seems overkill to me (a newbie to woodworking). It was fun using this jig to make corner holes. Btw, I bought extra DCT screws as the screws that came with it are size 30. Happy woodworking!
