Review on Zol Stage Road Cycling Shoes by David Cook

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great shoes for beginners but a size or two too big!

I was looking for a decent road bike shoe that didn't cost me too much. Have been riding stock flat pedals for almost 30 years after trying SPD pedals for a few months in the 90's and experiencing slowing traffic lights, falling off and making a fool of myself in front of all the motorists. Waiting in the next world " script. Several times. Having recently been attacked by the guys I ride with, I decided to try the Speedplay pedals and actually promised myself I would spend the next 7 years just on the lawn in front of the House circling I've read all the reviews and admittedly ridden it less than 5 miles still had no issues with screw locations or screw holes Screws were tightened to specs with a Speedplay torque screwdriver For that reason I'm leaving this review (same reason , from which I looked at all the reviews): Sizes In real life I wear 11 shoes .5 sizes and in these things I bought a size 47. I think it was two or even three sizes bigger than what the chart says! I did a calculation based on these reviews and realized that with Prime I could start with one size and go back if it doesn't fit and move on. Size 47 fits perfectly. The fit is not very tight, I have to pull the straps as tight as possible. Right now I'm wearing regular bike socks and when the colder months hit Ohio I'll switch to warmer socks and still have room. As long as they don't stretch more than regular shoes, you're fine. Bottom line: I don't have much time on this, but if you're looking for a cheap entry-level 3 or 4-eye road shoe, these might be for you! Check out the size ratings and try them on.
