Review on Carlson Quality Brake H5064 Housing by Aaron Ayo

WARNING: DO NOT BUY, this is either dangerously low quality or Revain offered the wrong size part for a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT 4WD, 1 bolt sheared and another ripped off OEM spec torque wrench with 48 ft-lbs of torque. The OEM bolt heads are 14mm heavier, have a much taller and wider base and a much thicker shank for the threadless bit that goes through the caliper. These replacement Carlson bolts are 13mm in diameter with a short smooth hex head as if they are missing a washer, fully threaded shank and do not look like they would fit in a truck brake assembly. My new little used Tekton torque wrench feels a little heavy, maybe 5 to 10 ft-lb more adjustment, but there's no way this bolt should have sheared off so easily. If those cheap bolts break under hard braking, the caliper can rock up, pop and pop, or lock up the wheel, causing you to lose control and fall. Also these screws are dangerous, DO NOT BUY THIS PART. Also bought ACDelco caliper bracket bolts in the same Revain order, they seemed stronger than OEM, good quality so will avoid Carlson parts from now on. I had a similar experience with a set of rear drum brake springs (bought locally), the Carlson springs seemed lighter than the OEM springs, I didn't think about it because steel alloys have improved over the past 17 years, but now I have think it is likely that the parts are inferior. Between that old rusty Ford bucket that lives up to its reputation for daily repair or fix and inferior parts, I'm really fed up with this. I will come back for a refund and will look locally for a replacement part, can't wait for delivery of the other part.
