I put about 40 pounds of paper through this machine. No freezing, no overheating. Quiet enough to watch TV while grinding. I've read complaints about slowness, I think it's probably a trade-off between speed and noise. I never wanted it to be faster. The size is ideal for a small business or household catching up on years of document archiving work. The machine stops when the paper level in the tray becomes high. It appears to be an optical detector that often triggers long before it causes the jam. The trash can slides on casters and pulls out easily to quickly collect fluffy crumbs. Repeat this 3 or 4 times, then it's time to empty the trash can. I would buy this again in a heartbeat. I usually shred about 9 sheets at a time. It takes 14 but needs editing. Why overload with constant running 14. Easily chews CDs and credit cards.
