Heats as it should. This part works very well. My complaints relate to the design of the controller. For starters, the cable from the controller to the mattress is way too short, only 24 inches. The attachment point is at the top corners of the mattress. The problem is that the cable has to go down the side from the mattress. , under the sheet. In my case, I have a 14-inch mattress, which means the length isn't even long enough to lift the controller to mattress height or put it on the bedside table. It just needs to hang near the ground. The functionality of the controller is also somewhat frustrating. When you turn it on, it defaults to the maximum heat setting (8) and the longest auto-off setting of 10 hours each time. This is annoying because I usually use one setting at a time and just turn it on. Instead, I now have to turn it on every time and then reset the temperature. This is even more difficult as the controller has to stay a few inches off the ground and can't be raised to a comfortable height. All in all I'm not that disappointed to return it but I won't consider it. Model for future purchases. My feeling is that this controller was designed for uncoated electric throwing and the manufacturer just makes bigger blankets without changing the controller's design to something more suitable.
