After I contacted Utec support they immediately gave me a brand new and untouched lock. Now I can finally see the function of the product, so let's get started. I have owned a Schlage lock for many years and have found it very convenient, although the app and accompanying software have been fairly unreliable. This lock is better than the Schlage in every way, AND it has the added benefit of a fingerprint reader, which is AMAZING. Compared to other locks, Utec wins in every respect in my opinion for the following reasons: 1) The fingerprint reader is the key feature that all other major locks lack. It's even faster than the app or pin methods and it has tremendous benefits that make it the main feature of this lock in my opinion. My children have no electronic devices. With a fingerprint reader, they can enter a home without having to remember a PIN code, which they will inevitably share with everyone they know. Faster, safer and more private. 2) The lock and app are very secure. Configuration was easy and I haven't had any major issues since setting it up. I was able to invite my wife as a user and her experience was flawless too. First review: I bought this lock and received a product that turned out to be heavily used with scratch marks on the outside. I really want a lock so I asked for a replacement and what I got was actually WORSE than the original. It turns out they sell refurbished goods as new. Too bad I really want this lock but I can't get what I'm paying for. See photo.
