We have been using the pump for a year with no problems. Yesterday, during a storm, sand and gravel blocked the water intake grate, stopping water flow. The pump runs continuously for 15 hours without water being supplied to the pump. Motor and pump have warmed up to approx. 150 degrees. After stopping the water supply, I was surprised to find that the pump was not damaged. I was concerned about a pump failure so I originally bought two pumps to have a spare. Now I think I can place the second pump somewhere else. Once again, negative reviews about the reliability of the pump scared me. Trust the WAYNE name and ignore the naysayers with their negative reviews.
