This watch is definitely large in diameter and is also thick (almost 1/4 inch), the round dial is about 42mm (1 - 5/8) . inches) as listed, but if you include the metal piece that holds the strap in place it's closer to 50mm (2 inches). I have a small wrist and it really covers it up. The strap has a black nylon canvas and a synthetic foam lining on the inside so it doesn't scratch directly on the wrist like regular canvas. The key to using this watch seems to be getting enough sunlight to charge it to begin with. I was expecting the Eco-Drive series to store energy from wrist movement, but these charge with ambient light and sunlight for the best results. Large numbers make it easy to tell the time with a quick glance. I think the clock hands could have had a black border to give them even more contrast. Aesthetically, I like that her body is black, which I think makes her more down to earth than silver. Please note that the watch face is Olive Drab and not black. Another innovative feature: the day of the week is displayed in two languages: English and Spanish. I've never seen a watch that does this, I'm impressed!
