Review on πŸ’» Ubiquiti Networks EdgeSwitch 10XP: Managed 10-Port Gigabit PoE Switch (ES-10XP) by Luis Jacob

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Clean and simple interface, can be controlled via CLI but NO active PoE

This switch is easy to use and can be controlled via web or CLI interface. If you have other Ubiquiti devices like EdgeRouter, other edge switches or Ubiquiti hotspots and you use the EdgeRouter/Edgeswitch interface, this is a good addition to the system. However, this particular switch (10XP) does not have active PoE - it uses passive PoE which is not 802.3af or 802.3at compliant. You can't just plug in a device and expect it to work unless it's specifically listed as passive 24V PoE (some Uniquiti APs and IoT devices, I suppose). I was trying to connect a pair of RaspberryPi 4's and the switch wouldn't turn them on. My HP/Aruba 2530 switch can easily work with devices because it uses active PoE and is compatible with 802.3af or 802.3at standards. So it's a good idea to do your homework to see if this device is right for what you're looking for. I would rate this 3 stars for a nice, easy to use interface, but not that good - 2 stars for the confusing PoE claim.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
