Does not support 802.3af

I bought this device because of the POE functions but I could not get any device to work with it. It doesn't seem to support 802.3af and I'm wondering why my POE cameras didn't turn on. Also, POE is disabled by default. Connecting to the switch was quite a hassle as my DHCP server gave it a random IP and it didn't have a hostname to indicate what it was so I had to try multiple IPs before I was able to connect. On the plus side, the web interface feels very cool and intuitive. I will beโ€ฆ

Great little managed switch

I use it with Ubiquity EdgeRouter 4 for my home network. Excellent user interface and economical choice for a managed switch. Adding two more ports to the SFP ports is only $30. The only downside is that POE+ isn't supported if you need to power devices. I had to buy another switch to power my Amcrest security cameras. However, this is a great option for a managed switch.

  • Best in niche

It's enough to love.

Exactly what I expected for the price. I have a small business with 4 ethernet port registers and 4 access points: I put the main register on the modem/router's own port, 1 access point also on the main port, and all other devices are disconnected from this switch - it works fine amd war connected and playing with rip. I'm satisfied overall. I'm a little annoyed that I can't pair this switch with a Unifi controller, but for $130 it works fine. Since I'm not an IT expert yet, I need to exploreโ€ฆ

Pros
  • GOLS certificate
Cons
  • Only available in black

This switch is easy to use and can be controlled via web or CLI interface. If you have other Ubiquiti devices like EdgeRouter, other edge switches or Ubiquiti hotspots and you use the EdgeRouter/Edgeswitch interface, this is a good addition to the system. However, this particular switch (10XP) does not have active PoE - it uses passive PoE which is not 802.3af or 802.3at compliant. You can't just plug in a device and expect it to work unless it's specifically listed as passive 24V PoE (someโ€ฆ
