Oddly enough, I didn’t take this lens for macro at all, but purely for portraiture and reporting. Macro is really amazing, of course, sometimes I "play around", but so far this is a new direction for me, requiring certain skills and experience. Numerous reviews predicted some kind of super-sharpness, which supposedly would be bad for female portraits. To be honest, I did not notice anything supernatural here. The detail is excellent, but it is not "oversaturated" with sharpness. The only thing I can say right away is that portraits should be shot mainly on an open hole, from 4 onwards the photo becomes not so plastic and interesting. By the way, about 2.8 - a perfectly working aperture, and with a good flu, at least with a half-length portrait. When I first shot a report on this hundred square meters, using a stabilizer and shooting parameters: f2.8, 1/25 iso 400-800, I was just dumbfounded. Yes, there are objects that move slightly and you get a blur that does not depend on you, but the stabilizer is simply incredible, it works out at 150%. Now, even where it is possible to shoot with a flash, I still try to do without it and the result is excellent! If you shoot on a full frame, more on the street and in unhurried conditions - I may have advised you to elka 135. But if you often have to shoot in difficult conditions, but you also like to photograph street portraits - do not be afraid, buy this hundred, it is completely pays off the money invested.
