KN makes a quality product unique. Here are some thoughts: ----- PRICE: KN is about the same as other famous brands. I'm not sure I would trust any other brand's CAI as fitment can be an issue and can also cause MAF issues. Working with a well-known brand gives me security. With the price on Amazon and free shipping, it's hard to beat. I'll probably get about 5% extra MPG too, so it should pay for itself within 2 years. --------------- Installation: I'm not a mechanic, other than changing headlight bulbs or changing oil I'm out of my league. I installed it in less than an hour and have never installed CAI before. Installation requires cutting the crankcase ventilation hose and attaching the fitting. It's easy enough, but it's making me nervous as I don't know how to go back to consuming inventory in the future if needed. I'm out of warranty so it's no big deal. The directions were very good. There were a few differences, such as the green clip on some of the breather tubes, and there was nothing green on my car. However, I was able to figure things out quite easily. There is also a hex bolt that attaches the MAF to the KN tube; So make sure you have a set of Allen keys. Everything fits and looks good. I have an extra part that I can't figure out what it is for (rubber hose plug and mount for it). It may have been accidentally boxed or it is needed for a different vehicle year than the one I have ---------------- Fit and Finish: Super Star - when I look at it I thought it would be hard plastic, but it's actually powder-coated metal and it's pretty nice. The filter is of course top quality and all parts fit together very well. The only downside is that it doesn't look like CAI as it sits right next to the battery. The fender lets in some cool air and there's a heat shield, but this really isn't your ordinary CAI going outside. It's something between Short Ram Intake and CAI. ----------- Packing: Pretty good. They'll give you a California CARB sticker if needed, as well as some stickers for your car if you want the police to know you love to drive fast. It also gives you a warranty card which I included with other paperwork for the machine but I'm not sure how useful it would be if something happened to it. ------------- The car is faster, maybe in the middle of the powerband, but the top and bottom feel the same. Although maybe my ECU is still being tuned. However, MPG seems to be better, around 1 MPG. The sound is the best; I won't bring the cat back because the fart might be too much for me. But it gives the engine a slightly better sound. Below 3000 rpm it's still nice and quiet, which is good for motorway driving. ---------- Rating, high quality, excellent sound, easy installation, good price.
