Review on πŸ”₯ Enhanced Hotend for Creality Ender 3 Printers by John Destruction

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Impressive hotend kit

This hotend is supplied as a kit without instructions. Even without instructions I just looked at my stock hotend on my Ender 3 and assembled everything in a similar way. After installing the parts into my printer, I cut the PTFE tubing to remove the part that went to the standard thermal break (I use a direct drive extruder, the Bowden tubing would not need to be cut with a standard extruder). On first heat up, I noticed that it reaches printing temperature quicker than a standard hot end, even though it reuses the thermocouple and heating element from the brick. My first attempt at PLA printing was frustrating due to a filament jam and some issues. All issues have been solved by reducing the filament retraction to 1mm as opposed to the 4mm retraction on the standard hot end. Printing with ABS is amazing and the temperature rise of just 10 degrees Celsius made me think I might need to run the print cooling fan at very low speed, which is never a good idea when printing with ABS! Haven't tried PET-G but am looking forward to a wider range of materials to now be able to print on my Ender 3 as this hot end can be used at higher temperatures than one with a PTFE liner. For the price, this device can't be beat!

Pros
  • Fast heat dissipation. No Bowden tube is required, the filaments run straight through the smooth inner wall of the aluminum heatsink for faster heat dissipation.
Cons
  • So far so good
