If under $40 for a KVM switch that can switch between four hosts sounds too good to be true, then it is. Unfortunately, this KVM switch made my monitor flicker every few seconds no matter what host it was switched to or other factors. Replacing this switch with another 4x1 KVM switch as all the cables and connections remain the same and only the switch is swapped out solved the problem with no troubleshooting or configuration required. Since the same setup worked with a different switch, the problem also exists with this product. Aside from not working as advertised, the design of this particular KVM switch is also far from perfect. For example, input and output ports are scattered on all four sides of this switch, making it difficult to find a place for the switch that doesn't involve a cacophony of cables running in all directions. This was a major annoyance after I wired everything up and there was no way to untangle the cable as it was a byproduct of the product design. The included instructions are fairly minimal and do not list any power requirements. . A micro USB cable is included, which implies a standard USB 5V connection, right? Your guess is as good as mine, since it wasn't pointed out, let alone mentioned in passing. The remote control is a built in button that has a nice tactile click. The kit includes 4 USB cables for easy connection to up to four host computers. I mentioned that I ended up replacing that KVM switch with another product that might offer plug and play functionality. Well, this product costs $130 for comparison and is about four times the size of this switch. Obviously you get what you pay for and $30 for a 4x1 KVM switch really was too good to be true.
