Now that I have experienced all three types of humidifiers, I can write reviews and tell you what really works. All humidifiers were used during the winter period (approximately 6 months) on a permanent basis. I used (in the order I bought them): Boneco 1355N - natural humidification - worked 5 years of work (remained working) Dantex D-H50UCF - ultrasonic - 1.5 years of operation (drip, something in the case) Stadler Form Fred - steam - 3 years old (drip, used with hard water) Boneco S200 - steam - 3 months of operation (currently in use) Highlight: Steam humidifiers at minimum power produce as much steam as natural humidifiers and ultrasonics at their highest speeds. A little louder than Stadler Form Fred, but quieter than ultrasonic and natural humidification. At 2nd speed it is not noticeable for people who fall asleep with the TV on. You can set it to 1st speed, and it will be completely silent compared to others, but at the same time, moisturizing will still occur more than on ultrasonic and natural humidification.
