A 1996 Dodge Dakota Auto V6 had very intermittent engine failures that got worse over the course of 3 months. The engine stalled at low speeds, but then it began to die more often at any speed. I've replaced the fuel pump, distributor and crankshaft position sensor on the advice of the Dodge forums, none of which solved my problem. I spoke to the mechanic, he told me about the engine control unit which is under the hood in the passenger wing, well. He said they are notorious for slowly disappearing over several months. I replaced the OEM ECM with this Cardone product and my problem was solved. I actually only bought locally from Advance Auto because I could return the core for a $60 credit, but the price on Amazon is competitive if you don't have to return the core. I hope this helps someone because I was about to set my dodge on fire because it took me months to fix this problem. Remember that this particular module is for the V6 automatic. If you have something else you will need to pick it up as the blocks are pre-programmed. Took maybe 5 minutes to install myself, very very easy, just mark the three wires to ensure they go back into the correct slot.
