HARD PASS is a toy, NOT a lock you can rely on.

I feel very comfortable as an MA and I also do it professionally. I worked as a locksmith during summers in high school, so I know locks, keys, plumbing, etc. I have every tool I'll ever need to install just about anything around the house, plus almost as many auto tools. This isn't the first smart lock I've installed. I have experience with other brands and my favorite is Schlage. This device does not match a real lock that I would also trust my home security to. I could start with how much plastic they use, but that's not the biggest issue. First of all I have to say that everything works for me, the lock, the application, everything works as intended. However, the main downside I see is that the motor that opens and closes the deadbolt is so weak that you barely have to tighten the 2 screws that hold the lock to the door for it to move. Any torque and the screw will not turn. This lock might be good in the house for a sibling trying to keep someone out of their room, but for a front door lock it's just not good enough, too weak. If a burglar sees one of these locks, he will surely realize that your home is essentially unlocked. Opening the panel with the key even exposes the wires, making it easy for someone to short the wires and open the lock with a screwdriver. So mine was easy to set up. I had to widen the bolt hole a bit and I widened it again when I saw how easily the motor would get stuck and not have the strength to close the bolt. I must have assembled and reassembled this lock at least 50 times, I keep trying to adjust it but to no avail. The electric motor is too weak. I'll try to use caulk to hold the outer lock in place as I can't take advantage of the strength of the screws. I really wanted this lock to work, so bad. But,. bad design is not overcome by my determination. I have a feeling this will eventually be brought back and I'll have to spend twice as much to get a version of Schlage that actually works. I don't endorse Schlage, I just know that their smart locks work and are better thought out. This model seems to be a toy, so it is cheaper in price, the value for money explains this 100%. Make version 2 of Ultraloq, I'll try your next model and maybe you can improve the design. :(
