Works but temp sensor not accurate

Terrarium heater/thermostat combo works but not as expected. I have never used a heating pad with a thermostat before. I got this because the thermostat is digital and thought I could fine tune the optimal temperature for my gecko. But no. I have the thermostat set to 90°F for the hot side, but the thermostat only shows 83°F to 86°F. My gecko is fine so I'm not overly concerned, but I don't want to point that out at any point Has the thermostat reached 90°F based on the thermostat probe. I used a separate infrared thermometer to take the temperature and it read 92.2°F while the thermostat read 84.9°F. I can see my gecko going back and forth between the hot and cool sides of its skin, so it looks like it's hot enough, if not too hot. I think the thermostat temperature sensor is probably inaccurate, I'm not sensitive enough. Also, I must add that I had to replace the first thermostat a week later. It made a piercing electronic hiss that I couldn't stand. The second came out quickly and doesn't make that noise. But I think the sensor on both worked the same way. I set both to 90°F and the daytime temp was 86°F at its highest, while my infrared thermometer read a much higher reading. I'm fine with the product as long as my gecko is happy and healthy. But I definitely align the stars for accuracy.
