Review on πŸ’‘ AmazonCommercial LCD Display Non-contact Voltage Tester for Working, Double Mould, Flashlight by Shane Yay

Revainrating 4 out of 5

disappointing average

Main reason I wanted it was a low sensitivity setting at 100V, the lowest I've seen before was 90V, but at low sensitivity this thing lights up and powers all over the control box it useless. for troubleshooting, and it's almost pointless to have different sensitivity settings when the lowest one lights up next to something. Then the flashlight is on the back of the pen so it doesn't illuminate what you point the probe at. acceptable for a flashlight, but when it's pointing in the opposite direction of the tool, its intended use should be a flashlight it's awful for, your phone's flashlight is 10x better. The "LCD screen" tells you nothing more. as he. doesn't tell you what settings are enabled, how strong the signal is, battery life. Nothing. It just says it works. A simple light can tell you this. The only plus I have for this tester comes from its weakness. The high sensitivity setting is so high that you can pick up power simply by holding it near a switch or outlet. You don't have to remove the trim or open Jimmy's tamper protection, just touch him to a switch or outlet and you'll lift him up. If you're looking for a stick that will tell you if nutrients are remotely present, this is the stick for you. If you want to use it with a certain level of precision, this isn't for you. I recommend this for the homeowner or DIY enthusiast, you almost never have to worry about a false negative with this thing (btw, the number one cause of false negatives is wet wires, use your meter if testing in wet conditions), but definitely not for industrial use. There is nothing commercial in it.

Pros
  • Compact pen design fits easily in a pocket or tool belt; Backlit LCD
Cons
  • So far so good
