I am buying several of these VelociRaptor drives. They are no longer available as new. Mine worked great and I actually saw an increase in read/write times. The only noise I sometimes hear is the internal movement of the heads as the drive reads/accesses data. for the most part it is completely silent. You won't be bothered by the noise it makes. This drive was designed for a workstation, not a home PC, but it works great as a main drive. It would be better (safer as we need to keep a backup copy of our data) than a second drive for data backup and for read/write speed. .I say that because the main hard drive is mostly only accessed at startup and then sometimes for data or programs. Read/write speed is not critical, BUT when large data files are being written to disk, it may be. This can be especially important for those working with photos or animation, or working with huge spreadsheets. Just my thoughts, I recommend this disc. I do not know the seller and have not received any money or product for my random review. 210527 1258
