I own a shocking number of pens. It's my dirty secret - my compulsion to buy pens. They were out of control, so I got this little guy to help get some of them out of my pen bowl (a salad serving dish).THE GOOD: it holds a shocking number of pens. When I started assembling it, I thought it would hold like 9 pens. It looks so tiny while assembling it. I easily have 100 pens in it. I could have more, but some of my pens are actually markers. They take up more room. Once it's together, it feels okay. I'm not worried that it will fall apart. But it's just made of pulp-board.THE BAD?: I'm hesitant to call anything "bad" because of the price point. You're getting what you pay for. But it was still surprising to see this little tiny flat pack with these little tiny pieces of pulp-board and some screws. The assembly goes quicker than you'd think (considering the number of components). The assembly instructions are pictograms, so you have to separate and orient the parts carefully. I ended up using my screw-gun to put the screws in because there aren't screw holes, there are screw slots - which makes assembly a little harder. If you go this route, make sure you have it on the slowest speed with a hair-finger release because the components are just pulp-board, so they'll crack in a heartbeat. If you're comfortable with lego and Ikea, you'll be fine here.I'm not mad at this pen holder. And honestly, I'd probably buy it again if I need another one. But I don't necessarily like it either. It's just a cheap solution to a first-world problem.
