I use this on my boat to update the weather and only in an emergency. You must order a battery charger. thats OK for me. I only had to charge it twice in a few months of use. For your safety while sailing, I recommend this marine radio for your safety. I also liked the fact that you can keep the radio with you rather than in an emergency. Abandon ship with a built-in marine radio. The same happens during power outages. You still have a safety net with the radio.
