The best way to avoid a deer or other animal is to be alert. If you have trouble driving at night, driving slower and lighter is the safest way to drive other than driving during the day. My vision is almost perfect. I was driving at the advertised speed of 40mph and the deer looked at my car and decided to test my braking ability. The early warning whistles were just an indication that my tires matched the color of the whistle. Nothing prevented me from hitting a deer except the masters of my car and my vigilance. The only difference I've seen so far is the high +55 mph speed. If you must travel, precautionary travel is the best way to go. Stay healthy folks.
