Review on Outdoor Research Rocky Mountain Gaiters by Tom Tucker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Buy them with confidence.

I bought these for snowshoeing and they work exactly as they should. I was skeptical about the attached/non-replaceable underfoot straps, but they seemed solid enough to me. The time will show. I can only imagine that using it for rock/rough terrain would potentially wear out the strap a lot quicker than snowshoeing. I was also concerned about the strap buckles rubbing against the snowshoe straps, but they're completely unremarkable. The design of these leggings make them easy to put on and take off and match shoes well. The top straps/buckles close securely and are not in the way. In fact, you forget you're wearing them - that's the way it should be. Satisfactory purchase. As for sizing - I bought a medium pair for my wife and a large pair for myself based on the manufacturer's size chart which is based on shoe size only. It turned out that the medium ones fit me (shoe size 11) and the large ones fit my wife (shoe size 9) due to her 16 inch calves. Medium is not suitable for people with 16 inch calves. You really should measure them by calf size, not just shoe size.
