Quality gaiters.: Shoes and Accessories

These gaiters have served me well in all conditions, from winter snow in Colorado to thickets in Alaska. In all situations, these leggings have proven to be comfortable to wear, offering maximum protection from prickly thistles, unforgiving snow and swampy conditions. These gaiters even kept my socks/boots dry after a 10 second shin dive in fast flowing glacial water. Worth the money spent. I have used these gaiters exclusively with 8 inch waterproof leather hiking boots and am not sure how…

Ideal for keeping snow off boots.

I did a lot of comparisons before deciding to buy these leggings. I am a woman and I bought men's leggings. I don't know why it matters, it works perfectly. It's unique with a stretchy bottom that wraps securely around your boot, making it absolutely impossible for snow to get inside your boot. And the hook fits perfectly and attaches to my Keen boots. It is also a little warmer due to the wind protection. I haven't used it in the rain. Outdoor Research make great products and I am very happy…

Protects against sawdust and snow!

Our latest pairs had elastic around the upper calf that would wear out over time. They have a traction belt with a plastic cam lock. I'm curious how they hold up. I used them on a wood chainsaw yesterday and they worked like a dream! I was wearing shorts (I usually wear shorts regardless of the weather or to work) and I found no sawdust when I took them off! My wife has used them in the snow a few times and the kisses of gratitude tell me they must work! Measure your calf size with each…

Saved my toes from frostbite

On a late fall day, I underestimated the snow conditions in the Adirondacks and ventured to two distant peaks in ankle-length, waterproof shoes made for trail running. Luckily I only wore these leggings to save my pants from the Adirondack mud. These leggings fit well and close just below the knee. As expected, there was no snow for 3 miles. but as soon as we got higher we went to 1 foot of snow at a lower elevation, and soon we were tracing a knee-deep path in the snow. Eventually my feet got…

XL does not fit calves over 18 "

Haven't worn it yet but feels snug for what an XL should be. I'm a 5'10" chubby woman with long legs and the widest part of my (upper) calves wearing jeans is 18" in circumference. 18" seems to be the widest circumference an XL size will fit ("fits"" means you can FULLY close the long velcro on the cuff that goes through the shins - see image) I suspect the gaiters need to be snug/tight to keep the snow out? Be loose, although this is my first time trying them on, although it looks easy enough…

  • So far so good

Very durable, breathable alligators.

I bought these alligators for hunting in the thick sagebrush here in Utah. I used to tuck my pants into my boots to keep bugs and ticks out and double-knot my shoelaces to keep them from unraveling with the brush. These alligators cover everything for me, which is exactly what I needed. I was very satisfied with their work. After about a week of very strenuous hiking, they still look almost new. I can see some tears in the stitching where the straps attach due to abrasions on the underside of…

Pros
  • Fabric specification: Waterproof, breathable, abrasion resistant
Cons

Buy them with confidence.

I bought these for snowshoeing and they work exactly as they should. I was skeptical about the attached/non-replaceable underfoot straps, but they seemed solid enough to me. The time will show. I can only imagine that using it for rock/rough terrain would potentially wear out the strap a lot quicker than snowshoeing. I was also concerned about the strap buckles rubbing against the snowshoe straps, but they're completely unremarkable. The design of these leggings make them easy to put on and…
